This week, September 9-15, is Virginia Bicyclist and Pedestrian Awareness Week and the 2012 theme is: “BE AWARE. Share The Road, Save A Life.” DRIVE SMART Virginia and Bike Virginia are joining forces with Richmond Police, Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department and Richmond Ambulance Authority to encourage motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to Share the Road. Several officers were out Wednesday morning at the intersection of Belvidere and Main streets at Monroe Park handing out pamphlets and talking to VCU students and other cyclists and pedestrians about bike and pedestrian safety.
